Brazilian firm Wald, Antunes, Vita e Blattner Advogados has strengthened its dispute resolution practice by promoting a new partner.
The firm announced the promotion of Clarissa Marcondes Macéa, 41, last month. Originally based in São Paulo, she recently relocated to Washington, DC, where she will continue to represent the firm.
Wald Antunes now has 12 partners in total, five of which are women.
Macéa specialises in litigation and arbitration. She has extensive experience in the fields of constitutional and administrative law, construction, infrastructure, intellectual property, pharmaceutical and energy, among others.
The newly minted partner joined the firm in early 2020. Before that, she worked as a law clerk at the Federal Supreme Court in Brasilia from 2017 to 2020, having previously served as the head of the legal counsel of the Municipal Secretariat for Assistance and Social Development of São Paulo between 2015 and 2017.
Wald Antunes managing partner, Mariana Tavares Antunes, says that Macéa’s promotion is the result of her outstanding work with the firm, as well as her academic and professional experience. “We decided to promote Clarissa to the partnership because we believe that she will be a great addition to our board while contributing to the expansion of our firm,” she says.
Wald Antunes stands out among Brazilian Latin Lawyer 250 firms for its high female partner count. Some 41% of the firm’s partners are women. That is higher than the average female partner count at Brazilian firms, which according to Latin Lawyer’s most recent research stood at 31%.
The Highly Recommended firm Wald Antunes has offices in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Brasilia. The firm is known for its litigation and arbitration practice areas. Earlier this year, it helped Brazilian private equity group Fundo Bordeaux acquire Paraná state-owned telecommunications company Copel for 2.4 billion reais (US$460 million).
